In 2015, the Village permitted 158 residential units. Since 2000, Huntley's population has grown from 5,730 to an estimated 26,692 residents per a special census completed in early 2016.
Huntley's corporate limits encompass 14.22 square miles of land area, with a certified 2010 Census population of 24,291 residents. The 2010 Census confirmed that Huntley was the fastest growing community in terms of percent (321% increase) and the 4th fastest growing in terms of numbers (18,526 new residents) in the State of Illinois between 2000 and 2010. Huntley's Del Webb Sun City, the largest active adult development in the Midwest, is home to approximately 9,000 residents. The remaining Huntley subdivisions have a very high percentage of young families with children. The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning estimates Huntley's population will rise to 58,997 by year 2040.
